Looking For An English Teacher

Nowadays, the new information and comunication technologies give us the possibility of finding allmost everything on the Internet. It includes language teachers. In my personal experience I should say that this way of learning is as good as others: you can learn at home, on a one-on-one way and normally at a very affordable price.

There are a lot of options on the Internet. I started by browsing for teachers on this two sites:

A couple of thoughts about your search:
  1. I have found it helpful to have lessons at a fixed time, some teachers cannot offer this.
  2. The italki list seems to change slightly nearly every day and I have no idea why. Some days, one or two teachers disappear and new ones appear. Then on occasions, the ones who disappeared come back, so it is worth checking the list every day until you find one who suits you.
  3. Some teachers have a poor or intermittent Internet connection, which makes it hard to communicate properly.

"Every student has different learning goals and learning styles. Some students may prefer more formal lessons, while other students prefer to learn in an unstructured way. Some students are under time pressure, while some students can learn in a more relaxed way."

So, it's important to take into account a couple of things in your search:
  1. Setting your expectations
  2. Make sure the teachers understand your goals
  3. Try a few different teachers.

That's for now. I hope this post may help you to find your English teacher.

My British Friend

Today I have introduced myself to my new British friend: Chris. It was two weeks ago we met, but our relationship has only been as penpals (Today it was the first time we saw each other). I wrote something in English to practice my writing skill and he corrected me by helping me to improve it. And I did the same for him. I have to be grateful to him for all his effort to help me, because really he has got it: Thank you very much again, my friend.

I was a little nervous this morning because it was going to be my first conversation exchange by Skype and I thought I couldn't do it correctly. I thought I was going to suffer a block (I don't like cameras) and I wouldn't be able to say anything. However, it was so easy with my British friend.

He is really kind and easy-going. I mean, he is the kind of person who makes you feel secure and calm. I felt so happy when the conversation had ended, because I had really enjoyed it. One hour had seemed to me as 15 min. It was great! He is also very funny and interesting, so I think it's going to be a very good experience to talk with him every week.

PS: You could try to find your conversation exchange partner here too. Furthermore, you could practice speaking (English or Spanish) here. Good luck!

The Idea

This morning, I was in the Café Almeja with my friend Diego. Lately, English language is one of our more common conversation topics. Both of us are learning English AGAIN. We always say that is awful and boring to relearn all the grammar and to remember the vocabulary that we had already learnt some time ago. We have been learning English severals times in our lives, and after, we have forgotten it.

Today, Diego has said to me something true that made me think about it. Diego has said: "This time I don't want to give up my learning: I want to make English a part of my life". So, the name of this blog is thanks to Diego. He invented it.

But how I have decided to write a blog is thanks to this Website. On it, I read today that an strongly recommended technique to improve writing wich is to write a diary. So, here I am!!

Wellcome, I hope you could be able to learn a bit of English as well with me.
